Bible Reading - How to Set Up Your Bible Reading Plan

Bible reading is an excellent way to bring the bible into your home and to develop a daily routine for studying and applying God's Word. The beauty of this process is that one can use the books that they are reading as resources. A good example is to read one chapter of each book at a time and then go back and read another chapter at a time. If you read your chapters out loud, you can listen to each chapter and absorb the meanings of the lessons. This will give you a good idea if you have picked up the flavor of the lesson.

A couple of considerations should be made when deciding on a reading schedule. First, how many times a day will you read? Next, how long will it take you to read each chapter? The chapters should be read in order from beginning to end, but at the same time it may be necessary to read some of the supplemental materials at the end of certain sections. At the end of a chapter, it is recommended that you pick up a book or other source of information so that you do not spend an excessive amount of time reading one chapter and then forget about what you were reading for the rest of the chapter. Check out this bible timeline for more details.

Bible reading plans should not be written down in a hurry. It can take a while to get to the point where you have really picked up the flavor of each lesson. You need to allow time for your brain to process the information so that you are not rushing through your reading plan. Make sure that your reading plan does not have any sections that go back for more than one time. If you start a section several times over, you will wind up not being able to absorb the material the first time around.

You should make certain that you are choosing books that you enjoy reading. If you cannot enjoy the books that you are reading, it is unlikely that you will put the time into reading them. You should also consider the genre of the books that you choose. Some genres are more suited for various age groups than others. Romance and the holidays are more appropriate for children than books that are geared towards adults.

Your Bible reading plan should also consist of short segments. This means that the bibles that you choose to read will be no more than twenty minutes to forty minutes in length. This is not long enough to give you the full benefits of the stories. You need a little bit of time here and there for the stories to soak in and allow your brain to be able to absorb the meaning that comes with the biblical material.

The layout of your Bible reading plan will depend upon how you want to take in the stories. Are you looking for a fun story, or are you more interested in theologically? Is one story more important than others? Are you more comfortable reading the Old Testament or New Testament? There is no right or wrong answer to these questions, but the way that you approach the Bible will change the way that you experience the stories.
